A wildfire is burning on the far side of Ventura from where I live, closing a major highway and keeping many people busy on an otherwise quiet Saturday.
Curious if I could see anything, I drove up to Grant Park. Smoke was visible (though that’s currently true from about any reasonable elevation throughout the city), and I watched several helicopters pick up water from a pond in an avocado orchard, but otherwise, the fire was obscured by the hillside.
The major concern right now is the threat to the oil operations that are common in the hills around Ventura, including just to the right of view these shots frame. Several more very-similar photos follow.
